Kapila was initiated into Kutiyattam by the legendary master Guru. Dr. Ammannur Madhava Chakyar and continues her training under him with a scholarship from the Sangeet Natak Akademi at the Ammannur Chachu Chakyar Smaraka Gurukulam.

She has also trained under G.Venu, Nirmala Paniker, Usha Nangiar and Ammannur Kuttan Chakyar.

She regularly performs at the important festivals and other venues including those of SPIC MACAY in India and abroad. She was one of the two Indian artistes selected to participate in THE WORLD THEATRE PROJECT in Sweden. She has also been invited to conduct workshops at the Rietberg Musuem in Zurich.

She was awarded ‘promising artiste of the year – 2002’ by Keli, Mumbai.
